Fair enough.

Never said there was a problem if you're repainting a Spychanger Scourge.

I only said that it's pretty lame if you're repainting a toy to mimic one that is already in existence.

By modifying a toy as an attempt to create a toy that is already in existence, the only person you are cheating is yourself, because at the end of the day, that toy will never be what it's attempting to be -- in effect, you've made your own custom knock off.

There's no pre-determined universal law that says that this is against the "rules" as such, however, I see this as being particularly lame because it is simply a weak attempt to give yourself a toy by creating a replica.

If you're satisfied with replicas, then why bother collecting official variants of toys such as the various different coloured Convoys? Why not just get a bunch of second hand G1 Optimus Prime and repaint them into the colours of the variants you can't get your hands on?

This is because, as collectors, we want the real thing.
And to settle for anything less than that is to cheat yourself as a collector.

So it's not a matter of anything being "against the rules" (I never mentioned that at all, so please stop fabricating elements into my arguments).

As I mentioned before, repainting a Cheetor toy to look like Tigatron is a lame idea because no matter how good your painting skills are, the fact will forever remain that that toy is and shall always be a repainted Cheetor toy (as opposed to a repainted Cheetor mould from Takara).

See what I mean?

Repainting a Silverbolt toy to make it look more like the show isn't lame by this argument, because you are making at least a variant of a toy that otherwise does not exist, so that's fine. So don't argue with me about that again, since we're in agreement on that point.

good good.

When did I ever mention "rules"?
Again, you're warping my words.
Read my posts again carefully please.

re-read my last post about that.

*rolls eyes*
I'm not even going to dignify such an over-presumptious statement with a response.
