Well, yeah. I personally think that that kind of total lack of ingenuity is unversally applicable. But there is one difference; Godbomber and God Magnus transform into armor, which could be considered an independent alt mode or even a collection of alt modes (boot, gauntlet, etc.) making them gestalts or making them composed entirely of removable weapons. They still have to come apart to turn into robot mode, but it's at the same points, like some removeable weapons that have to come off to complete transformation.

Stretch. Definite stretch.

But still, even the eternal goofiness of the exploding Ultra Magnus doesn't seem as bad as a Valkyrie which only has two real modes and yet has removable legs.

BTW, although the Gerwalk mode is rather unoriginal, I personally think it was at least kind of cool as used in the cartoon.
