Hi Katherine I am a special needs teacher in New Zealand. I'm not sure where you are from-the Uk or the States perhaps. I am curious about the process of the school diagnosis---to my knowledge it would need to come from a well researched test administered by a specially trained practioner. Perhaps you need a second opinion, your son could be frustrated because the intervention strategy is not addressing his problems---and that may be because the diagnosis is not correct (I just offer this suggestion because here in NZ within the school system only the Speech language therapist would alert us to a visual processing problem)
. Unfortunately if he has visual processing disorder there seems to be no easy fix--Some optometrists have a visual tracking programme.
Since the school diagnosed the disorder it would be interesting to know what accomodations they are making for him---especially to alleviate his level of frustration which he will encounter with every subject every day.
Wendy
