They are transitioning between childhood and adulthood and expectations of them are usually a good deal higher than those of the primary school child. Additionally, they usually receive less supervision, so it is important to encourage them to ask for help whenever they need it. This can be done by trying to remain ‘close’ to your teenager and keeping all the doors of communication open for them. Do not be judgmental, and try to treat your teenager as an adult, showing him/her respect. Does anyone have any experience of working with teenagers with dyslexia?
