I personally do not think a self contained classroom with multiple LD kids works for dyslexia. I agree that he will get further behind. The problem is that regular classroom teachers do not want to be burdened by another child with an IEP. You have to force the issue with mainstreaming, with is why the federal disability law exists. Pay an advocate to attend the IEP meetings with you and don't agree to move your child to a LD classroom. You are correct in your assumption that their are behaviorally disturbed children plus many other LD's and the chance your child will advance in reading is very small.
