Hi Francie....before you spend a ton of money on a bite splint...try this. Go to a sporting goods store, and get a mouth guard...like the hockey players use. The $300 bite splint made for me was almost the same as the hockey mouth guard. Of course the professionally made one fits better, but the hockey one is less than 10 dollars. Before you agree to have one made, try the cheap one first. Some people can't tolerate that in their mouth all night. I sure couldn't, I felt like I was gonna choke all the time, and I was out the $300. It's worth a shot. I have migraines as well, and was told I grind my teeth in my sleep. I guess I still grind them, cause I still have migraines, but I can't deal with that thing in my mouth.

I do have a funny story about my bite splint. I paid all that money for it, and when I figured out I couldn't use it, I had left it on my dresser. Well, my cat, who loves to chew on plastic got a hold of it, and chewed it all to hell. It was barely holding together in some spots. So the next trip to the dentist, the dentist asked how it was going with the splint. I pulled it out, and said.."they really don't hold up too well..." and waited for his reaction. I was dead serious with him...and he said that it looked like I grinded my teeth more than he thought!!!!
LOLOLOLOL What is life if you can't mess with your dentist!!!

Good luck in what you decide,

Mikki
