Subject: X-roads tactics taken to the next level

We do play good, no doubt about that. But there is still plenty of room for improvement, if we were more disciplined offensively.

In the end of the sunday we saw something that looked like it really should: A tremendously powerful offensive through coordination: We had Dario and Naltoc go on full mana, then they would run in, while priests shielded them up and followed them, to be within healing range. The effect was devastating. We took down their entire force in less than 20 seconds.

After such an attack, we ran back to the hill as fast as we could, where the mages would mana up again, while the horde ressed. We repeated the attack 3 or 4 times, with the same result every time.

You can see an example of it in one of the attacks in the FRAPS video, though it is carried out by Dario and Onnes (who is only 43), since Naltoc logged. Still, with this incredibly reduced power, the attack was still devastating.

------------------------------------------

Another issue is one single person: Naltoc. I had access to 70% more material than I use in the FRAPS, and I kid you not - Naltoc was as good as perma-dead! That simply will not do. He is fixated on IAE tactics and that alone. We have to talk to him about it, and make him listen to us.
From now on, we must demand that the IAE tactics is only carried out with proper support - coordinated mages, backed by healers.

Concerning mages, we should consider, that a fireball alone takes almost 50% off a target, even a purple. Coordinate two fireballing mages with for instance a hunter, and you have something that looks like insta-kill every 4 seconds.

I have thought of another way to enhance the IAE tactics, and that is by letting our warriors/pallies spearhead the assault, making them main target. It will work as a lightning rod for the mages, that will have much more free room to play. It is furthermore easier to heal the tanks. We must make sure, however, that we don't use fear (warriors!), since it will break the entire purpose of IAE.

In addition to my criticism of lone IAE'ers, and my suggestion that we test targetting single targets more, I have to launch a criticism at our use of the raidassists. I know the fight is long, and staying focused is hard, when people come at you non-stop. However, I believe we can do better if we focus more. Maybe we can have 3-4 main targets, and then designate ppl to each their MT, so we don't overkill a single target. But we must use it.

Another thing, though we can't really help that right now, is that we have too much defensive power, and too little offensive. We had a staggeringly 4 priests and 3 druids out of 16 MRC's. That is people that don't do much offensive damage. Priests could maybe do it, but its too expensive mana-wise to shoot MindBlast alot (and even if a priest does, he is far away from Mage power), and I believe druid firepower just doesn't even get in the ballpark (while Im not sure to be frank. Kylara, can you give us an idea what kind of firepower druids have offensively?).

Just a few random thoughts, I think could help improve our tactics.
