Bill: I noticed you worked for the Kalamazoo Gazette . . . did you ever know an ace operator who worked for the Upjohn Company in-plant and then opened his own commercial shop, Francis R. Edgecombe? When a junior in high school (1951) the Edgecombe family invited me back to Kalamazoo and arranged tours for me at The Gazette, J.R. Richards Co., C.J. Mahoney Typesetting, Kalamazoo Vegetable Parchment and The Upjohn Company. Later "Edge" sold the printing portion and moved his rare Model 9 Linos to an acreage at Galesburg where he did custom hot-type composition and pulled repro proofs on his Vandercook reproduction proof press.
