If the problem isn't happening in the treble or center sections, the playback board is probably OK. One of the signals on the wiring harness from the playback board to the bass driver board is /REGISTER CLEAR - it is the line responsible for ensuring that all notes are turned off in the absence of valid data from the tape. Maybe there's a loose connection on the wire carrying this signal and it isn't getting propagated to the bass driver board. I'd recommend unplugging the cable between the playback board and bass driver board, checking continuity for each wire, then reseating it. If the problem persists, check the bass driver board for pins that were never soldered (have seen this in some Pianocorders!).

To prove that the bass driver board is faulty, you can swap it with the treble driver board - they are identical - and see if the problem follows the board.

BE SURE TO UNPLUG THE PIANOCORDER AND WAIT 60 SECONDS BEFORE TOUCHING ANY OF THE BOARDS OR MAKING CHANGES, AS THERE IS HIGH VOLTAGE PRESENT EVEN WHEN THE SYSTEM IS NOT PLAYING.
