Hi again,

First of all, I want to apologize for shooting this off before reading through all of the posts in this forum. :) Also, I see that several people provide help, not just Mark, so if anyone else would like to chime in, please do!

So, I've read through the posts on this forum and tried cleaning the tape path, checking the cable 10 connection (it's good, and the other boards and cable connections all look good, too), and tried the MP3 through a cassette adapter with the Play button pressed all the way. I've also tried working the Play and Record buttons on the PT-100 and disconnecting the note driver boards from the Playback board and playing a tape (a la the '3/4 bit and range control. Lights on Nobody home.' post). Still have the Fine Tuning light on all the time. I did not mess with the 3/4 bit and range pots.

I'm thinking that the PT-100 is bad, maybe bad preamp. I'm leaning towards getting the upgrade offered by Mark, but am willing to troubleshoot further if anyone has any other ideas. ~dk
