Just got off the phone with my MIL...the SFS doctors are giving her the run around and there's no one "available" to release her. Man, have I mentioned how much I *hate* doctors? Because I do, I really do.

And her speech was just terrible. She was hardly making any sense at all and was slurring her words. I don't even wanna tell my husband how awful she sounds. I hate everything today!

Except for my Campers, and the Smarties, of course.

Bethie ~ Yes, I do wish the Smarites were just joy and not comfort during stress. But the do taste yummyliscious, so that's nice! Grrrr to the cost of summer camp! I don't blame you for keeping them out a week. Besides, it sounds like fun being at the pool. Can I come and join you???

Thanks for the hugs gang. I've taken the chill pills along with coffee and strawberry frosted pop tarts. The world is better now. :o)

Got reports and rosters to print. They expect me to work today! Can you imagine? On a Monday?

Oh... meal reports: Zulu got hash browns, sausage, sauteed orange peppers, tomatoes and mushrooms, fried eggs and english muffins with marmalade for Father's Day breakfast. He grilled short ribs and lamb chops for dinner. Yum! with baked potatoes and corn on the cob.

Furniture report: We moved stuff around. Alot. We like it better now. Living room is much larger it seems.

Wouldn't it be so nice if the small things like Smarties brought us as much joy as they did when we were kids? Instead of merely being a pacifier for stress now?

Kids are here all week. I was *dying* of the cost of summer camp, so I pulled them out this week. ($130 a week, every week, all summer!) We went to the library today. Will probably go swimming the rest of the week. Since I am cutting costs and can't go to the tanning salon anymore, I'll have to bake in the sun like in the olden days. LOL

Hey gang... I could use your leftover good thoughts (after those for Holly's fam and for Bethany's job hunt). Work seems to have exploded late last week, and it's beyond stressful at the moment. We have 150 people arriving today for two weeks of seminar, and I'm bearing the brunt of things. On top of summer class, which is kicking my buns.

It's almost 10:30 and I don't think I've had coffee yet. Wahhhh!

My MIL is supposed to be getting out of the hospital today. I do hope they let her go. She seems to be fine. They kept her an extra few days to be sure there was no swelling of the brain after the operation.

We are all supposed to meet with the radiation specialist sometime later this week so he can tell us about the plans for her treatment. She'll have chemo and radiation. But it won't start for 3 or 4 weeks. They have to let the surgical wound heal.

Mr. Holly is really, really cranky today. And he has every right to be so. But its making me bitter towards him. I'm gonna have to find a way to deal with this and right now I don't know what that way is going to be. :(

Ok Lisbet, I'm stalling. I'll admit it. It's called self-preservation right now. I about lost it yesterday, talk about back-sliding! But in order for me to be happy, I'm gonna have to just chill on the whole thing for now. Not put any pressure on myself or him at all. Just wait it out. Technically, you're suppose to be seperated a year before divorce can be filed in NC anyway. We were gonna do a quickie (read: lie about sep date) but it may be a little *too* quickie right now. I mean, it's only been 2 months. I just don't wanna make *another* mistake.

Zoey: Whew! Friday is starting to look bad for me too! I'm getting a couple yards of mulch delivered this afternoon and I have a feeling it will be tomorrow before I can get to it. Ugh. I hate the fact that they just dump a big pile of mulch in the driveway and then I have to shovel it into the sfs wheelborrow and carry it to the back yard. But I need too much to buy bags. Ugh. Sapph, I think you should plan to move to the US during your winter, which is our summer. Doesn't that sound like a good idea? Then you won't be ~shivering~ anymore. :)

I've decided to hold off on the divorce. I'm not moving back. I'm not even seeing him. But I don't want to rush anything again. I'll give him some time to "prove himself", then we'll see. I'm not too hopeful about a reconsiliation (sp) though. I talked to the kids last night and they are totally against it. But I won't rush the divorce. No real need to at this point. Who knows. I'm just tired of worrying about it, so I'll give him some time to adjust to the idea of divorce and/or show me that things really would be different. And we'll go from there. I have other things to worry about right now - like finding a job and getting the gas leak in my van fixed somehow. : (

Oh Bethie, I don't know what to say about Mr. B wanting you back. I just keep wondering in my head if he would have said the same things if the chiquita weren't in jail, and if he didn't have the kids??? Wish we had a crystal ball. Do what your heart (and mind) says, but think about it long and hard before you make a decision. Remember you were going to split and then got back, didn't you? You gave him the second chance and he blew it again. He didn't take that second chance and hold on to it or all it's worth. And the fact that your kids are happier than ever now, kind of seals it, doesn't it? But know that whatever you decide, we're here for you.

Did I mention he's talked to our pastor AND my ex-in-laws about all of this? Of course, they are all sooooooooo concerned for him and his kids, and my ex-MIL (she's a saint, really) is a crier. She cries at *everything*, and she cried talking to him, which naturally translated to him as "She wants us back together."

Now, neither my pastor NOR my ex-in-laws have spoken to me about the whole situation at all. Not a word. Which leads me to think I'll be looking for a new church soon enough as well. (Same pastor that never called or visited when I had surgery, but counselled Mr. B on the phone for hours when Mr. B told him I was leaving.) I've a good mind to call Brother M and see what his deal is.

Would that be inappropriate?

He says that's not the case. I mean, his kids are 16 and 12 and have been use to being on their own for several years anyway. They stay home when he's working (still on the road) and do just fine - they're very responsible that way.

Here are my concerns:

A) I don't KNOW his kids. After 2.5 years of marriage, they are strangers. I don't know how I could handle walking in to ready-made-family at this point, especially considering the life they are accustomed to. I'm quite the "over-protective" parent type and I can just imagine the conflicts that would arise from my being what they percieve to be overbearing.

B) My kids are happy now. They have all commented that they like it here more than there. They NEVER ask about Mr. B and his kids. They don't even seem to care that they are no longer around.

C) While I respect what he's doing now by making things right with his kids, I can't forget what got him to this point. I can't forget that his daughter called him for 3 weeks every day before he returned her messages. I can't forget that he allowed them to live with a 26 yo man he barely knew because he wouldn't speak to their mother for 2 years and therefore didn't know what was going on. I can't forget that he didn't see his oldest child for 18 years until *I* made him go visit her the year we got married. I can't forget that he dumped all his financial problems on me to solve, after witholding his situation when we were first married.

I was looking for a cancelled check that he needed while we were on the phone and you would not BELIEVE the amount of $$ I came across that *I* had paid for HIS bills he had before we ever met. It made my blood boil.

Now, the pro's:

I'm unemployed. Self-explanatory.
It *could* very well be wonderful if I go back (then again, it could be the same shit in 3 months).
I am happy. I have friends, I'm getting in touch with my family who I've sorely neglected for way too long. The kids and I are happy just being the 4 of us, hanging out with friends or just together.
Based on his past insecurities, I would have to give up many of my friends *again* because he can't deal with single and/or male friends - (Jill = Single. DeeJ=Single w/kid. David = Seperated w/kids. Etc. Etc.) Add to the fact that he *has* no friends other than a few guys he fishes with - I don't like that. I like people around. I like to be able to call a friend and say "Let's take the kids to the park!" We never even had a BBQ the whole time we were married. ONE time my 2 brothers came over after Thanksgiving Dinner and had a beer. That's the extent of our socialization. That ain't me. And it's not how I want my kids to be. I want them to be comfy being around people - not like his kids who don't know how to deal with ANYONE. KWIM?

I heard something on the radio yesterday, and I meant to post about it... The report said, "a study shows that life is getting more difficult for fathers." My reaction: Waaahhhh! Somebody call the Waaahh-mbulance!

Life's been tough for mothers FOREVER! And now suddenly things are getting a wee bit too tough for dads?! Poor babies. ~rolls eyes~

The report then said, "Things are especially tough for absentee fathers and single fathers." Is society supposed to feel sorry for these guys? Single moms have been sweatin' it out for eons. I just couldn't believe that some study was done, and that anyone had the nerve to talk about poor ol' dad and his rough life with kids. Geez!

Anyway, I was wondering if ex Mr. B is falling into this later category of single dads, and is looking for you to be the maid. :-/

~sigh~ Two hours + on the phone with ex-Mr. B telling me how much he loves and wants me back home, how much his kids and he need me and want me there, how different things would be now, how much he's changed, etc etc.

Why can't I believe him? I just can't open myself up to any possibilities there anymore for some reason, no matter how great it *might* be in the long run. I can't uproot my children again, move them into a house with 2 kids who are virtual strangers, have 5 kids and us trying to rekindle a marriage that's been dead for the better part of our 2.5 years. It all just seems like too much WORK right now. : (

Oh Torchy I'm so happy for B and for A and the codeine. Still, the danged Dr shoulda given her more pain meds. (((())))

I told the lady at the groc store here in town, I'd either check or make pizza (there in the store) for her once in awhile. So I was there last week doing some practice checking. It was pretty easy, cuz her register was just like the one I had at my shop. I doubt I'll be working much But I won't mind getting out every once in awhile just for kicks. KWIM? And it's a no brainer job, which is just what I want.

Well, B shone like the very moon and stars, she did. Actually, at the piano recital, she was the ONLY one we heard (we got there late...after her band concert) that didn't make even one mistake. She played like a little pro. AND looked ever so sweet in her pink dress and her hair in a little bun.

A's appointment is good. She gets out of school at 11:30 that day and the appt. is for 1:15. So fine. I don't have to deal with THAT!

And she has the tylenol 3 (let's hear it for codine!) to help ease the pain. She is getting better, but it's so much slower than she/I/the doctor/ thought. He had to do much more digging around in that knee than he thought he would.

Moral: If you have a torn meniscus in the right knee, don't play an entire season of soccer before you get it fixed.

You know what? I just love all of you! I'm getting weepy just thinking about how much you ease my burden. Sigh.

I had fun in the one hour class cuz she told us stories about unethical stuff her past bosses from past jobs had ask her to do. Reminded us of our code of conduct. Ask abtouunethical things dealt with and Bobn's yer uncle. Out of class in 50 minutes. Then on to TJ Maxx. I bought nothing. Then we ate at Outback. I noticed they had menus on the table. I thought they might be extra, so I got one to send to Sapph just so she could see it.

Salon says they're getting close, but I don't believe it for a minute.

We got a dentist. And I found a doc who is close by who went to university in .... South Africa! too cool. lol

When I got divorced, I so wanted to change back to my maiden name. I kept the stinky ex's last name just for the Chicks. Now it's changed again, and I like it ever so much more. It's very short. I'm keeping it no matter what.

Yep, Zoey, health insurance ROCKS! We'll chip in like $65 per month for health/dental/vision for the whole family, PPO not HMO. I'm paying $135 per month now, medical only for me and the Chicks. Lousy coverage. They covered NONE of Chick #2's ER visit last fall. The kid was bleeding from her head, is that NOT something insurance is supposed to cover?

How do I *feel*? ~shrug~ I don't really know. Part of me is sad for the "What could have been." the other part knows that "It wouldn't be."

Mostly I just want it over. (Remembers my shrink talking about "putting up walls") I'm taking back my *other* married name (same as the kids, easier on them I think). And maybe I can just pretend the last 3 years didn't happen?

Afternoon y'all! It is hot. And humid. And the air quality is bad. Great, I tell ya.

I left my home AND cell numbers with the sfs dr.'s office. When I got home from errands, there was a message from the docs office. Did they try my cell? NOOOOooo. Grrr. PLUS they gave me all sorts of attitude about A needing more pain meds. AND they gave me attitude about our insurance needing a pre-authorization for the Physical Therapy that the doc ordered for her. AND they gave me MAJOR attitude because I mentioned it's exam time at school and that if she has an exam scheduled, I may have to call and change her appointment time on Thursday (it's the "stitches out" appt.) She said, "well, he's only here Tuesdays and Thursdays. So if you want to call and change the appt., that's up to you." I said, "well, she has to pass her exams too!" And she said, "he's only here on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so you're taking your chances if you want to call and change the appointment."

GRRR! Way to work WITH the paitents, sfs office staff.

I had a most disturbing dream last night. I was at Mr. B's packing his kids' lunches. And A-16 had all this junk food left over in her lunchbox from the day before. And I thought to myself "He doesn't even know she likes to eat healthy!" so I packed her all this healthy stuff. Then she woke up and came in the kitchen, looked out the back window and there was this glorious garden (I had tilled up a place for a garden before I moved, remember?). She was so excited to have a garden, then A-12 came in and she was all excited and before I knew it they had talked me into moving back in. And Mr. B came home and was all excited and then I snapped back to reality and thought "Whoa! I can't do this!" but I really, really wanted to be there with the girls playing Suzy Homemaker, but I didn't want to be there with him. Then I woke up all frazzled. : (

Can't believe it, I was sure they would have gotten their act together by now. But at least I got the status page this time.

Long day here today, the nights are getting darker sooner. We're going to have a theme day on the shortest day which is some time coming up, I must find out. We're going to have a Hawaiian shirt day in our office. Should be hilarious. Plus we're having a red day coming up soon for "Red Nose Day". Do you have that over there? For SIDS? Hopefully these theme days will get everyone in a happier frame of mind in our office.

Could someone say hello to Tara for me when they ring, and let her know I'd love to ring her and send my wishes, but an international phone call to a mobile phone would blow me out of the water, totally.

A is home. Exhausted and already in bed. She said maybe she could just get by with a naproxin cause although she was really hurting, she wants to hoard her percs in case the doc won't give her anymore.

Just got off the phone with the sfs doc's office. It's the SECOND time they've said they'd give the doc the message and call me back. grrr. It's almost 3. They close at 5. hrumph. If I don't hear back by 4 I'm gonna INSIST on talking with the doc. (We'll see how far I get...)

I am getting so psyched for our anniversary trip! I got a cute little top from VS that came in the mail Saturday. I wouldn't wear it normally, but for vacation, it's sexy and fun! Plus I ordered a new bathing suit with a pretty low cut front (I'm a brazen hussy, I know) and a dressy top to go with a skirt I have that will look great with the new necklace I got for my birthday. I need some earrings to go with that necklace (silver and amethyst). Plus my seester gave me really gorgeous tanzanite earrings (they're gold) so I NEED a necklace to go with that. So many needs, so little ......money! hehehe.

I called the docs office and gave the whole schpeil to the nurse. She said she'd contact the doc and get right back to me. Ticktickticktickticktick.......

Lunch? No one knows. Probably nothing. I had a HUGE bowl of granola for brekky and I'm still kinda full.

Mmmmm, I LOVE tacos. I love Mexican food in general. Even tacky Taco Bell.

Hey, yanno what's weird? (But not gross. LOL) One of my co-workers gave me some flowers for my b-day, and they needed water this morning. So I watered 'em. And they are practically coming back to life before my eyes. Every time I glance at them, a couple more petals have perked up. I keep wondering...if I stared at them long enough, *could* I actually see the perkiness happen?



I was pregnant with L-Z during the OK bombing. And I remember being devastated. All those children in the daycare. :'( All those grieving parents. All those gov't peeps, and their relatives. I sat glued to CNN for days (when not at work). I couldn't stop watching. Hoping that more people would be found alive. I sobbed nearly the whole time I watched. But I couldn't tear myself away. The survivors. The victims' families. The pictures of the building. Of the dead. I still cry thinking about it all.

I remember thinking that children weren't safe *anywhere*. If they couldn't be safe in a gov't. FBI building, in their happy daycare, eating their morning snack....where could they be safe?!

In the book "American Terrorist" he's quoted as saying his only regret was that he didn't level the 9-story building. ~shudder~ Nice guy, huh. Good riddance. That bastard.

McVeigh. Ugh. I grew up around OKC and we were down the day after the bombing. The entire state was just devastated. In the newspaper they had pictures and comments of some of the survivors. One of them was a guy that used to live by my gran when I was growing up. He was a kid, tho a bit older than me. We and all of his 11 bros and sisters hung out together all summer. Played kick the can and so forth. I didn't have any idea he worked in that building, but I lost it when I read his comments and realized he might well have died. I'm glad he lived.

We're having more company. So yes, I'm in the gorcery buying alliance this month. And I may well die of it too Bethie.

I've been reading a lot of online news accounts of Timothy McVeigh's execution this morning. Weird reading about it. It was broadcast to the victims families via closed circuit TV.

Sapph--You're a dirty, nasty girl! Yay you! LOL. I can *hear* the happiness in your posts. And that's so cool. Had you already seen Sixth Sense? Did you like it? Mr. Z and I loved it.

Torchy--I'm concerned that A's knee still hurts. :-/ The surgery was arthroscopic (sp?) wasn't it? I didn't think there was quite as much pain for this many days afterward. Is it swollen? Bruised? Infected? Let us know what the Dr. says. Can you do lunch Wed. or Thurs.? Or should we wait until you find out the deal with A's knee, to see when you can get away?

Why on EARTH were we going to have to go all the way to freakin ROCKVILLE when LML was trying to set it up???? Freak.) LOL! Yeah, that was weird as hell! Conveniently located to...nothing.

Lisbet--I'm glad you're feeling better today. Gots lots of food at the grocery store. Last night was Italian sausages. Tonight, no one knows. Could be meatloaf, could be chicken. I like to live on the edge. LOL.

Salon is timing out for me too. Wonder what is going on.

Anyway had a wonderful weekend. And yes, we did watch a video, right through mind you, on Sunday night. "Sixth Sense". Plus I got my feet rubbed while watching it. Aaaaahhhh what a man.

The Mind Body & Spirit Expo was great. Scotty got his reading done by a psychic. Totally awesome. She told him that he'd just started a new relationship, and then turns one of the cards over and said, "with a brown haired woman". Got me in one.

I took him up the Rialto which he loved. Then on the way back to the car we went into a 7-11 to buy a can of drink and he bought me a long stemmed red rose, and presented it to me in front of everyone.

Went out for dinner Saturday night and then dancing to the wee hours to a live band. Awesome awesome awesome. I am so hooked on him, he makes me swoon!!!!!

That's you all caught up now ... almost, but the rest is R Rated!!! hehehe Night!

Still no Salon. Un-freakin-believable.

It's hot. I'm exhausted. A is still in lots of pain. I have to wait till 11:30 to call the doc. She went to school today because it's exam reviews. They have 2 more days of full-day school and then they have half days for 3 days and then they're (FINALLY!) done. It's ridiculous how long into June the school year goes here.

A is supposed to go on Choir Tour (church) on June 22. I'm worried she won't be walking well by then. That's when our 2nd Honeymoon/20th Anniversary trip is scheduled for. (Jeeze...just turned 39 and I've been married longer than anyone. In the world.) ~worry, worry~ A has been taking the perc nearly every 4 hours. School today will be a real test. She is even waking up in the middle of the night needing ice and pain meds. (Did I mention I'm exhausted?)

My "baby" brother is home from Korea!!! He brought his girlfriend (A Korean bartender - that'll go over well with Mom!) and his new baby - a dog named "Yummy" that does all kindsa tricks. LOL

We're having a cookout at my other brother's house this evening. Yun (his g/f) is making us all Korean steak - whatever that is!

He's sooooooooooo skinny!!! : ( We'll hafta fatten him up while he's home.

It's already 12:36. I'm so behind on this day! At least Mr. Torch is cutting the grass.

We're going to The Melting Pot this afternoon (5pm) for a late b-day celebration with my seester's fam. (Hey Deej...we're going to the one in Reston. There's also one in Arlington. A is STILL in lots of pain. I may call the doc just to see if this much pain is normal 3 days after surgery. I cut her back to one perc this morning because she was afraid she'd run out of meds. We'll see if it helps. She did go back to sleep, so maybe.

Holly gave me her migraine. But that's ok, cuz she doesn't need it right now. So I'll suffer for her.

I stayed in bed till 10:30, trying to block out all the light and sound. Not easy with 3 kids running around. They try to be quiet when I have a headache, but you know how that goes - the harder they try, the louder they seem to be.

Going to take B-2 & L-Bethie swimming today. Try to finish laundry. (Is laundry EVER finished??) and probably a ballgame tonight - arena football or baseball? No one knows.

Hey gang!

I talked to Holly yesterday after getting Bethie's email. She said they were all in shock at the diagnosis, since they were expecting news of a stroke. They've got a good support system with lots of family, and everyone is doing as well as can be expected. Chemo will start ASAP.

Bethie--Got your cards! LOL!! (((Bethie))) Both were funny as hell! Thank you!

More errands to run today. Tomorrow (Sun.) is a big unpacking/organizing day for Mr. Z and I...since last Sunday was pretty well shot due to the pool party. We haven't even touched our downstairs family/rec room. That's our big project for tomorrow. The main level is about finished. A box of crystal to unpack, a box of linens and a few boxes of L-Z's toys, which will go in the play room downstairs.

Then we get to paint and decorate! Yay! The fun stuff!

Hey, I wonder if Sapph is peeking under Scotty's kilt right now?! ~giggle~

Took the kids skating tonight. What a BUST! God, it was soooooooooo loud there, and soooooooo many teens/pre-teens you could hardly walk - so B-2 was miserable (he doesn't like crowds). Oh well, file that one under "Things that Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time" LOL
