=slow steps bring her within the boundaries of the territory of golden flowers, gaze drawn to the rows and rows of tall stems, heads all bent toward the sun. Appendages tremble, and weight is set down upon folded limbs, too exhausted to even call out for help. Not that she would have had she possessed all her former strength. Her few precious moments with her son had been enough to break her heart. She knew not if her parents had survived and were safe. She knew not how her own firstborn would fare at the clutches of her enemies. All she knew now was the constant pain inside, that deprived her of all else. Her eyes stared blankly ahead, auds not bothering to check for others. She had given up.. They had won.=
