• Jon's eyes widen at her question. "What do you have?" he asks, with a slightly guilty glance at Mackai and Kaleb as he barely restrains himself from following Aura - literally - on her heels. He keeps a strained distance of about five feet in between Aura and himself, sternly reminding himself that this strange person simply 'was not to be trusted'. • Kaleb followed Aura much closer than the other two. Mackai kept her distance with Jon. Aura started rummaging through the cupboards and, pulling out various foods, replied, "Let's see...there's some jerky, cheese, bread...I guess I could also make some cookies or if you're really hungry I could go catch us something." As if in response Kaleb's belly rumbled again. • At the mention of cookies Kaleb's eyes lit up and Mackai managed a, "Cookies would be nice," Aura smiled and replied, "Cookies it is then." She began rummaging through the kitchen again. She had soon assembled the ingredients and soon the smell of fresh baked cookies wafted through the air. Aura pulled out the first sheet, "Why don't you start on these and I'll get us some nice cold milk." She sat the sheet on the table and returned with the milk and four glasses. She filled each glass and took herself a cookie (why don't we say they're choc. chip.). -- A, M, K, 12:58:13 12/18/04 Sat
  • Considerably more at ease now and quite uninhibited, Jon reaches for a cookie, dumps it in some milk, and takes a big bite. "Dewishus!" he mumbles through a mouthful. -- Jon, 22:40:07 12/18/04 Sat

    • Aura shrugged if they didn't feel like talking she wasn't going to force them. Kaleb however stepped right up to the opportunity "I's Kaleb and we's met Jon a little whiles ago. • Mackai took another bite of cookie and shrugged as if to agree with Jon. She didn't feel like divulging her whole life story to this woman.   • Jon, the all-knowing and naturally superior 9-year-old, rolls his eyes at Kaleb's chattering and looks at Mackai. Of course, he can't deny that he sat up a bit straighter when Kaleb asked the question, for Jon's burning curiousity so fiercely demanded an answer.         • Aura sighed. The children all seemed excited to see what she had to show them but what would they think of her afterwards? She sighed again. She had said she would show them and it was a bit late to not say anything now. Follow me she said leading the three to the basement. "I am about to show you something that will help explain the reason that I live so far away from people. Once I explain you may well be horrified but I want you to know that I mean you no harm and that at the present time you are in no danger. Do you understand that?" Aura explained.   • The basement was dark except for a candle on a table in the center of the room. It cast eerie shadows in the room. Mackai gave a small shudder. Once they were all in the basement Aura closed the door blocking out the light from upstairs. She then went to the table and said "It's going to be dark but you can't really see what I'm going to show you with the lights on." With that she blew out the candle. The room was pitch black for a few seconds. Then Aura opened her eyes. If you recall they were an amber color. They began to glow in a freakishly weird way. Aura relit the candle. "Do you kids know anything about werewolves?" she asked casually. The light revealed something that was not noticeable before. Along the wall behind the children chains hung on the wall. -- Aura and Mackai, 14:32:20 01/15/05 Sat
    • "Uh..." Jon replies, officially Freaked Out. He casts a nervous glance at Mackai, Kaleb, the chains on the wall, and then looks back to Aura. Swallowing, he says, "They're people that turn into wolves when the moon's full?" he says, eyes sliding to the closed door. -- Jon, 17:13:47 01/20/05 Thu
      • Kaleb's normally happy face fell and his lower lip began to quivver. Mackai hugged herself as if the room had suddenly gotten cold. Aura noticed Jon's glance at the door and said, "You're welcome to leave. Like I said I mean you no harm." -- My Alter-Egos, 05:41:35 01/21/05 Fri
• Jon blinks, thrown off by Aura's friendly manner. Extremely confused, he utters the exceptionally intellectual, "What?" frequently found in situations such as this. To elaborate his meaning, by saying "What?" what Jon really means (it just got stuck after the first word) is: "What do you mean you don't mean us any harm? Why are there chains in here? Why did you bring us in here? What do you mean by talking about werewolves? Why are your eyes glowing? Help! I'm so confused!!!!!"   • Mackai and Kaleb looked very confused as well. Aura looked at them all trying to figure out how to say is simply. "I'm a werewolf." she repeated "My eyes are one way to identify me as such. After I was biten I had no where else to go so I came back here away from all of the people. This is where I come when it's time for me to change. I chain myself up so that there is no chance of my getting loose." She sighed she didn't know why she was telling the children all of this. It had just been so long since she'd had anyone to talk to. • Jon looks quite relieved as well. "That's good," he says, with all the attitude of one of the three little pigs who just found out that the big bad wolf was really a vegetarian.     • Jon nods slowly in understanding. He's still a bit nervous - he's talking to a WEREWOLF, for crying out loud! - but he's calmed down considerably. • Aura sighed. She still didn't fully understand why she was doing this. She hadn't told anyone in a long time. She had forced herself into hermitage and, indeed, had not met anyone back her until now. She wondered if she should regret her actions. She was probably seriously damaging these kids, scaring them for life or something. So why was she doing it? For all she knew these kids could run off and tell the Council or someone else. Then where would she be. If they let her live she would be banished, exiled, but it was too late now in any case. She smiled at the children, "No not for a while.
