I have recently had a complete mtDNA test preformed on myself (Michael D. Barnes).

The results were that I am mtDNA J2b1b.

According to 'J (mtDNA) Wikipedia,' "J2b1 = Virtually absent in Europe. Found in diverse forms in the Near East."

Accordind to: Mitochondrial DNA variation and language replacements in the Caucasus, by Ivane Nasidze and Mark Stoneking - University of Pennsylvania 2001.

The most closely related groups in the J2 study are:
Georgians (SC)
Azerbiajanians (AL)
Armenian (IE)
Chechenians (NC)
Kurds
British
Sardinians
Basques
Kabardinians (NC)
Spanish
Cherkessians (NC)
Ingushians (NC)
Darginians (NC)
Abazinians (NC)
Adygheians (NC)
to the furtherest end of the spectrum are:
Indians (India)
Turks
(Israeli) Drusi, or (Druze)
Middle Easterns.

NC: North Caucasian
SC: South Caucasian (Kartvelian)
IE: Indo-European

Ashkenazi and Cohanim:

It seems the J2b (M12), (M221), (M314) was the parent group out of whom came J2b1 (M102), from this group came J2b1a (M241) and finally J2b1b (M205).
