Subject: She laughed at that, shaking her head. "Never understood that question, really, what kind of girl do you suppose I am?" By saying, 'a girl like you', it gave off the impression that the guy knew what kind of girl she was and really, know one knew what kind of girl she was except for her. She really was a beautiful girl, her face perfectly balanced, even and delicate but sharp at the same time, distinct. Her lips were soft and round and her eyes were a bright shade of green but it was there that she looked so much older, more worldly, more hardened then she should. She had the eyes of a girl who had seen way to much in her life.

Sometimes I think I'm happy here, sometimes
Yet I still pretend
I can't remember how this got started
But I can tell you exactly how it will end

  • He saw all of that - every flaw, every hint of fear and anger - even if he didn't understand any of it. A girl had dumped him once because she said that he creeped her out - she felt like every time he looked at her it was like he was reading her thoughts. At her question, he grinned a little and tipped his head back, one brow cocked. "I guess I was more interested in - what are you doing out here, as a girl? 'Case you hadn't noticed, you're outnumbered four or five to one. Mix those odds with a few drinks and a little bit of loneliness, and it's only a matter of time before you get into trouble." He wasn't lecturing at all, and definitely not threatening, simply inquiring. (NT) -- Travis, Sun, Jun 05 2005, 9:56pm PDT
