Right on! And it is not only Native people that need to stand up, but non-Indians as well. Although Native people are becoming more populous, their total numbers in the United States are still very small. In the eyes of federal government officials in power, if a cause or position does not threaten votes, it is a non issue. This is where non-Indians come in. If we (non-Indians) visibly join hands and become the social allies of Native people, then politicians will see that we who share our ideals with our Native friends have the numbers (and thus the power) to affect the vote. It is a complex system, this government of ours, but it really all comes down to the vote. Thanks for your post Full Moon Hawks.
