Thank you Susan for the lovely kind words...the memories you stated in your posting are, I think, at the very core of why we cut records in the first place...
Yes sometimes a lot of pain can be purged through voicing it in a song...I'm touched by your writing...

You are welcome for the kind words as they are only the truth spoken from the heart. And, not to argue with someone that I admire, but I am touched by YOUR words, not vice versa. *S*

You are truly blessed, not simply with your musical and writing talents, but by the fact that you have the opportunity to share these talents with so many, and touch so many hearts, as evidenced here in this message board. You seem to have a unique awareness of why you are here on this earth...to share your gift with others and to touch their lives. That is admirable as so many people finish their days on earth without ever making a contribution, or even being aware of the meaning of their life. You seem to be unscathed by your early success and appear to have your head, and your heart, in sync with your world.

I've frequently sensed that you are a tortured soul pouring his raw emotions out through his fingers into music and lyrics (hence, why I am still to this day so touched by the line "I'd almost give my hands..."). The beauty is that, through your songs, other tortured souls, unable to express themselves as you do, may find meaning to their lives and solace in the fact that they are not alone. Yes, pain can be purged by voicing it in song...or painting, or any other form of creative media. Unfortunately, the tortured souls who have not discovered their creative outlets and effective avenues to express themselves may turn to violence instead. Others turn to your music to express the emotions they hold within themselves.

It is refreshing to hear an artist who has not sold out to the big boys upstairs, who cuts records for the right reasons (to share their talent) rather than just to make money, and who doesn't let the business end of the work interfere too much with the creative talent. Too many artists I have admired in the past had a turning point where they "sold out", and then soon after dissappeared into oblivion. Loving what you do for a living is very important in the big scheme of things, and helps to keep you focused on your ideals rather than the almighty dollar. While money is nice ("Life is a shit sandwich. The more bread you have, the less you taste the shit." author unknown) it won't keep you warm at night or provide moral support or comfort. I also feel blessed as I am able to do what I love and earn a living doing it.

Thank you again for touching my soul.
