Subject: Here's To You, Monsieur Hitler

"Now if I feel like a disaster when I wake up in the mornin / Nuthin but a goddamn monkey wrench inside my head / Got some things to make me go faster, others make me go slower / Open my eyes, take a drop, take away the red." ----- Good Sunday to all. Good Lord, did I write that last night? Ha ha oh well at least I wasn't steaming. TOPIC OF THE DAY: the *EXPLETIVE* ----- First, let me say that this is cyberspace and that it's every parent's responsibility to set up their own censorship scene inside their own home. But to come out and tell another NOT to use the odd F-word because Little Billy is taking liberties, is, I don't think, fair. First of all, do you think Little Billy doesn't already know how to swear? Do you think his seeing it once or twice on a music board will nudge him from sainthood into eternal damnation, that he will sprout leathery red wings and go "all bad"??? My God, this is 2000 ... Little Billy is exposed to all kinds of shit at school --- you wouldn't believe it. That's not the point, though. The point (only my opinion, I suppose) is that although it's not always cool to cuss (eg, swearing up a froth while taking your wedding vows), this board is a board for adults. While we're not here posting nudies of ourselves or making a point of "F***ing" this or "MOTHERF***ING" that, we all sort of agree that the board is not 100% suitable for Little Jimmy living an otherwise squeaky-clean life in a Salt Lake City burb. Heck, you can't have the whole complexion of websites being changed, brought under a HitlerISH kind of moderation (no talk of sex, jazz, Jews), for the sake of a child who happens to use the board as a scapegoat for his/her potty-mouth. I said it before and I'll say it again, LOUD AND CLEAR ----> Little Billy already knows what F**K means!!! He's known for quite some time. Perhaps children should be disciplined in a firmer fashion for speaking so out of turn. If i were the parent, I wouldn't be about to go out and ban my favourite website just because my kid shouldn't always be reading it --- I would discipline my child and make sure he/she could not access sites I perceive to be unsuitable. Come on, people, let's at least pretend we're not SQUARE. Let's be smart about this and discipline the kids, not discipline our cyber family. That indeed is *COWARDLY* ... kids today get away with far too much. -----> On a more musical note: name the artist(s): (1) "Limbo lower now / Limbo lower now / How low can you go?" (2) "Who else is gonna give you a broken arrow?" (3) "When you were young and your heart was an open book / You used to say live and let live." (4) "It wasn't very large / There was just enough room to cram the drums in the corner over by the Dodge" (5) "Last night I had the strangest dream / I sailed away to China in a little rowboat to find ya / And you said you had to get your laundry clean / Didn't want no one to hold ya / What does that mean?" ..... hint on the last one: one-hit wonder from Montreal, circa early 1980s. ........... iHawk

Cowardly Parent's request was stated respectfully- I've got no problem with it- the problem is sometimes the responses start to get of of hand. Now if I could get people to post under the thread they're responding to instead of having 3 differant threads on the subject going I would be very happy.

yer all right on the artist-guess quiz, except for numero 5: the answer i was going for was montreal-native matthew wilder. having said this, i do realize "break my stride" has been done by more than just wilder. kudos. ..... iHawk
