Subject: Music Influences

Chet Baker? I guess I'll have to get a copy of the album Burton recommended.

I know that Fats Domino and Ray Charles were big influences on Burton, but I wonder what other artists are big influences on Burton. Especially from the blues side. Most blues musicians are guitarists, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Lightnin' John Hopkins, John Lee Hooker and the fabulous B.B. King. Burton's influences seem to be primarily keyboard players or vocalists.

I would definitely be interested in more suggestions by Burton.

Chet Baker is the one who originaly did "Everything Happens To Me" that's on the For The Fans cd. Burton did it at the CNE and knocked us out (Winnipeg too) You might remember postings about it on the old board from those of us that were there.

Yeah, I've got For the Fans and really like that song, Burton does it well. Found the album Chet Baker Sings It Could Only Happen to You at Amazon.com. circa 1958.

Yeah, I forgot to mention there was a post from MF an archive or 2 back that he'd mentioned picking it up. I think someone else mentioned that Frank Sinatra did it too.

I found it on an anthology- Chet Baker Verve Jazz Masters Volume 32, the original release is also on cd and I think it had Paris in the title because the album was recorded in Paris circa 1955.
