Subject: Possible set list
I tried posting in the thread, but it didn't work, so I'll post here:
It was Burton's manager, Lorne Saifer, who said that he had to give the fans what they want, prior to the Plus Signs tour. I have to agree. Joe Q. Public will be forkin' out the big bucks to hear the big hits, not Hamba Gahle, Usalang Gahle (although I'd love to hear that one). Still, maybe they could do a couple of surprises at each gig to keep the die-hards happy. Something like Palmyra or Atilla's Blues or Just Let Me Sing or Rock and Roller Steam. It would be a nice gesture for the long-time fans. But since this is a GUESS WHO concert, I'd be willing to do without the BTO or BC solo songs I've already heard a dozen or so times in concert, so that we could get more GW stuff.

I agree. I think we're all hoping to hear 2 or 3 unexpected surprises. Of course, everyone's musical menu is going to be different, so it becomes a question of what the band sacrifices to fit it 3 non-hit tunes. I totally agree with keeping this as a 100% Guess Who set. I love BC and RB's non-Guess Who material, but I'd rather hear some surprises instead of BC and RB doing some solo numbers.

Well, this is to be a GW tour so maybe they will do only GW tunes. I'd say the odds are 50-50 at best since they might sneak in a BC song or two as well as a couple BTO's. WHo knows but them?

Well, that's what they did last time (1983). They did You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet, Takin' Care of Business and My Own Way To Rock. The 1987 tour was heavily weighted to the BTO side, I think poor Burton only got to do Your Backyard, at least that's how it was at the Calgary show. There was lots of GW, though.

I agree with the folks, above, who have said it should be
a "GW" show...with minimal RB/BC stuff, if any. This is a
Guess Who reunion; Randy has talked about a BTO reunion and Burton, of course, is talking about putting a band together. Those "future" tours are the place(s) for the
solo/other material. As much as I love the BC (and RB/BTO)
stuff, the solo stuff does not have anything to do with the
GW group effort...kinda' goes back to the idea of givin'
them the hits, and fitting in some "fan favourites".
Look at the bright side of all this, the tour has the potential to breath a lot of life into personal careers.
In Burtons' case, maybe a highly successful American leg of
the tour will give our American friends a bunch of old
and new releases of material. We Canadians really are
lucky to have been able to buy so many albums/CD's over
the years!
This summer could be the first of many summers of seeing
Burton and/or the GW playing 20,000+ seat venues (too bad
they tore down the CNE grandstand in T.O....in the early 70's,the trip to T.O. in late August was an annual ritual)!

I agree. Keep it GW tunes only. We can hear the other tunes when BTO tour again or if BC tours with a band, Please...just the Guess Who!!!
