Subject: "A Song For Him" (Cummings)

Just a general comment on "A Song For Him" ... and NO, it has nothing to do with past conceptions that the song has something to do with Burt's religion. My comment is this: I think the part: "I think back to days when we were both so much younger / Sometimes we never really had a lot to say, no / No one ever told us growin up would be easy / Maybe that's why we help each other try to find the way" is one of Burt's finest moments as a songwriter. An absolutely lovely vision. Burt, if you're reading this, although I'm not even 30 yet, I appreciate this lyric. The good Lord gave you something and, man, you're giving it. Thanks, old man. ................. iHawk

Thank you for being so moved by the bridge in A Song For Him...I always kinda like the cut, never dewlling much on the lyrics...always like the strings...after reading your comment, i went and played the cut on cd and was pleased with how it made me feel..some cuts become an embarrassment as years pass, but this particular cut seems to stand up rather well...i am moved...thank you again for considering my lyrics worthy of perusal...

Burton- You may not be aware that your fans have made your music and persona one of the most active topics on the net among musical acts. It's really been a great way to keep your music alive. Your message boards have been more popular than those of The Beatles and many other mega-bands and those of in the US have especially enjoyed being able to keep up on things...MF (Bob)

Speaking of strings, I've been listening to Road Food recently (long commute to work)and really like the instrumentation on Ballad of the Last Five Years. I wondered who was involved with that because it really goes with the song in ways that Paul Buckmaster's arrangements went with Elton John's early music.
