Subject: Oscar Celebration

Not every day that we have an Oscar awarded for best picture to a movie (American Beauty) that has "American Woman" playing in a key scene. I'm sure many in the academy could relate to uh, driving in the car with TGW cranked up real, real loud. And I gotta think that it won't hurt ticket sales for the upcoming festivities either. Welcome to the list Burton and congratulations on your part in the Oscar!

Did somebody say that No Time also appeared in a recent movie? If so I would love to know which one. By the way, there is a soundtrack out for American Beauty but I did not see a GW song on it- too bad... Bob aka Maple Fudge

That was The Pirates Of Silicon Valley or something like that, about Bill Gates and the beginning of the Microsoft Empire
Did anybody catch the newsblurbs back in july or so of 98? It was mentioned that the astranauts on the space shuttle woke up to Clap For The Wolfman. That was right before I got online, and almost fell off my chair

Yes Bruce, Oscar night meant a great deal to me personally, for I now feel like a little bit of film history...the scene in American Beauty where Kevin Spacey jumps in the car, puts in a cassette tape, lights up a joint and proceeds to "sing along with me" made me feel very special...now that it's picture of the year, it means that untold thousands of people will be flocking to see it, and American Woman has garnered itsself yet another little bit of immortality...not bad for a set of lyrics that were "jammed" on stage in Ontario three decades ago...I am thrilled...I loved the film anyhow, but having American Woman in it just gave me a somewhat etherial connection to the whole thing...thank you for sharing my joy in this..

Luck and Health
