I found this site today and was looking over the past coupla weeks worth of messages and saw this one about the GW Midnight Special appearances. I recall seeing them perform (now I'm going from memory on this one) "Dirty" and "Eye". I was fully into the GW at this time (my fandom started in 1974) so I made a point of taping this performance (fair quality). It was called the Midnight "International" Special that particular evening and the GW represented Canada of course. Also appearing were Golden Earring and PFM (who were also on the tape I made).

My Dearest American Woman,
I've been keeping the home fires burning in Cleveland. I don't get a whole lot of time to poke around on the Internet and when I do it's spending money on eBay! Just recently bought a very cool Dean Martin picture sleeve. As you probably know I play the Guess Who every week on my radio show and for my birthday as a treat to myself I play 2 full hours of GW stuff you hardly ever (even never) hear on the radio. It's my own little personal crusade. Take care.

My kind of station. Tell me, how do you get your boss/program directer to let you play more than These Eyes Laughing and Undun?

We're a non-commercial college station and we can play whatever the hell we want to. As long as it's FCC clean between the hours of 6am and 10pm. It's a great station and has been broadcasting for 30 years. This year we expect to raise our wattage from 1,000 to 15,000 watts! We also broadcast on the Internet at http://radio.cwru.edu. So I take full advantage of the music flexibilty and close out my Rock & Pop show (Tuesdays 5-7am est) with the Guess Who. And I make it a point not to play anything off of Best Of Vol 1 and rarely anything off Vol 2 either. It's a blast!
