The strange thing about dyne is that when you see anyone who is 7'0 they usually don't have much of a build but Dyne is huge and muscular. No wonder he was the boss of that prison, he must of been able to lift 1000 pounds!

Yeah i've noticed that the character heights seems to be a little off in FFVII. What is the average height for people anyway? 5'9 for a man and 5'6 for a woman?

I found an interesting historical fact:

"Physical size: People were shorter and smaller in the 16th century; the average man was 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighed 135 pounds. Anyone over 6 feet was considered a giant!"

I've noticed that Midgar is the obly advanced place in the FFVII world, they are around the year 2000. All the other places seem to be in the 1800 or so(with the exception of the mako reactors put there by Shinra). Maybe when Midgar discovered Mako energy they technologically advanced about 200 years in a very short time, which would explain why the other places are so far behind. So if FF7 is following the real world then Midgar is really in the 18th century which would explain the character's heights.

Another explanation is that maybe people are shorter in Japan? I've heard that a person's height varies around the world, but I am not too sure about this.
