Come to think of that, that's right. So if I could time travel back to the 16th century, I'd be a giant. :-) Interesting thought .... too bad the quality of life was so terrible back then that it wouldn't be worth it even if it were possible.

Last I heard, the average male height was 5'10" and the average female height was 5'6", but I'm not sure if that is official. I assume it is referring to Americans, which is where that study would have been done. Average height does in fact vary according to one's ethnicity, just as hair, skin color, etc. do. The average Japanese person would in fact be shorter than the average American.

You may be right about the whole height on the world of FFVII there, assuming their human evolution parallels ours. I hand't thought of that.

I don't think Square has done a good job for the most part of matching heights with the characters' on-screen representations. How many of us thought that Squall was a pretty tall guy? I did, until I checked the manual yesterday. 5 feet 8 inches.
