Subject: Still My Favorite....

I was bored last night, so I popped in a copy of Final Fantasy VII into the ol' PSX and decided to give it go. Lately, I'd been playing FF V, which while it is a fun game (cheezy, cliched, but great gameplay, and nice for nostalgic purpose too), is just a TINY bit behind in terms of graphics. I have always liked the graphics of FF VII a lot, but the contrast served to remind me just how good they are, and to pay closer attention to the many details.

Even with the advent of FF VIII and FF IX, VII is still has the best looking backgrounds. Everything from the dark alleys of Midgar to the cliffs of Wutai to the World Map itself is beautifully done. FF VIII had some great FMV, but many of the areas were boring and easily forgettable, and the world map just plain sucked. FF IX is a beautifully done game visually, and probably the most enjoyable overall out of the entire series. However, in terms of color, lighting, design, and almost loving attention to detail, FF VII wins hands done, and even today it still has the best graphics out of the series IMHO, and some of the best ever in and RPG.

Well, with the obvious except of the dopey polygon people of course. (OH MY GOD!!!! MY HANDS!!!! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY HANDS???!!!!)
