Subject: And judges chairperson (who sits thru every single interview!) was the father of a future contestant. One who is eligible this year to compete actually.

In reply to: reads like the fix was in and KPB got the girls she wanted. Shame for other girls for work within the rules. Gotta make you wonder why Lou lets this happen 's message, "I thought you weren't allowed to have family members help. let's see Mom is field director, dad was auditor, KPB picked the judges. Contestants admitted beyond final cut off date and no orientation." on 10:40:55 07/29/13 Mon

[> [> Subject: I completely agree with your points. Should Kaitlynn have been allowed to compete? Probably not. Whether you love Kaitlynn or think she's a little too "pageant patty", you still have to be able compete with her on that Miss NJ stage. This should show the remaining girls on stage where they stand compared to two of last years top 10. They should take this as a sign to work harder and improve. Use this as a motivational tool. Does the whole situation smell fishy? Sure, but you know what...

[> [> [> Subject: Of course the directors picked the judges, who else is suppose to do so. KPB's mom is the field director for her pageant but Barb is the field director for her moms pageant. Auditing, look at other auditors, jn the CMC and Cumberland Co pageants it is the directors husband/son-in-law. Just not enough volunteers. Thank god it is a family affair for most the pageants in this state or the directors would have no help.

[> [> [> [> Subject: there were a few girls that expressed interest in competing after the "mandatory" orientation date, not just Kaitlyn. this pageant has been known for excusing people from orientation. they made it clear that because of the short notice and holiday weekend they would do their best to accommodate girls who couldn't make it and gave an overall deadline date for paperwork and whomever had it in by that date was allowed to compete.

they also were in jeopardy of not being able to hold a double because of a few girls dropping and loosing girls to CMC pageant.

Maybe NJ should try a draft, as in football! Line them up and chose who you want. Everyone could get a turn, worst results from the previous year would get first pick. I think I am on to something!!!

Hello all, I don’t usually read this board; however, I received a phone call to log onto to it this morning. Forgive me if this post does not fall into the right area since I am unsure how to use this board.
In response to your post, let me start by saying, I joined the MAO to assist in making an organization that I adore, even better. I strive to do my best to make sure the girls who deserve to win, actually win. I know firsthand, the time and money that is spent on competing in this pageant system. Anyone who knows me knows I go above and beyond to seek this goal. With that being said, that particular night, Kaitlyn and Ayla ABSOLUTELY deserved the win and whoever could not recognize that knows nothing about pageantry. I am a Christian women and I live my everyday instilling my morals and ethics within myself and others. KPB’s stepfather was indeed an auditor. It’s not an easy task to audit and with my guidance, I knew it would be done honestly and correctly. If another director feels that Kaitlyn and Ayla did not score the highest in Saturday’s competition, they could always go through the protocol to have the judges written scores opened.
To whoever posted that volunteers are difficult to find, Thank you, you are absolutely accurate. This is not a paying job and I can’t tell you how difficult it is to find volunteers who want to give up their entire day (especially in the summer) to facilitate & work at a local pageant. As far as Miss Avalon’s/IR judges chair, Yes his daughter is of competing age, however, she is NOT competing this current year so it is permitted for her family member to sit judges chair. If she competes next year, then her father will ABSOLUTELY NOT be allowed to sit judge’s chair. Every local picks their judges, these judges were extremely qualified and the only argument you can encompass here is that KPB picked qualified and skilled judges that knew their mission and selected the girls that deserved the win on that particular night.
As far as orientation, it is entirely the director’s choice to allow girls in after the pageant orientation. Girls are difficult to find and this organization is all about gaining new girls so I stand by allowing these girls to enter a pageant after the orientation. IN FACT, IF A PAGEANT IS SHORT GIRLS WITH A CHANCE THAT THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HAVE THE SECOND OR THIRD TITLE, THUS THE DIRECTOR WOULD BE WITHOUT A GIRL FOR THE CURRENT YEAR, I WOULD ALLOW AND RUSH MYSELF TO DO ALL THE MADATORY PAPERWORK. I WOULD NOT WANT TO LET DOWN THE DIRECTOR WHO WORKS SO DILENGTY ALL YEAR LONG, EVERY YEAR! THESE DIRECTORS GIVE EVERYTHING FOR THESE GIRLS! MORE IMPORTANTLY, I WOULD NOT LET DOWN THE CONTESTANTS WHO THINK THEY ARE VYING FOR 3 TITLES,TO FIND OUT THEY CAN NOW ONLY COMPETE FOR 2 TITLES. IT IS UNFAIR TO EVERYONE!!!!
If there is anything else that any of you might find a conflict with for this or any other pageant. Please feel free to contact me directly. My phone number is on the Miss New Jersey web site. I would be more than happy to answer any questions or concerns that you might have.
[> [> [> [> Subject: Just to clarify an earlier post, Melissa Ruiz is the Field Director of Barb's mom's pageant. Barb is the Director of Field Operations, not a Field Director. Her job is to oversee all of the fuctions of the Miss NJ locals and state pageant. Please know your facts before trying to make assumptions about this organization.
