Oh my Lord. So what?! It's the brutal world of NJ pageants. "Give someone else a chance" = your daughter knows she can't win. Hey- sometimes somebody had to lose. Get real. NJ is awful for pageants because the system is full of petty pageant moms and old people who have lost touch with reality. With all the real problems in the world you feel that you have to complain about every little thing just shouts "my kid is a loser who can't seem to win because she's just not as good as everybody else." It's comical. Maybe you should get out of pageants and try stamp collecting; that's probably a low stress hobby. Or if you want a scholarship maybe join a sport and excel at that. Stop your complaining and teach your daughters something other than "if you lose, complain loud enough and maybe you'll end up on top."

[> [> Subject: NO I think it may also have other meaning. It may mean that two of the top five are in the first Shore Pageant so they can be a Shore girl again. They had two earlier pageants they could have done Avalon and Cape May. But everyone wants to be a "Shore Girl" since there is obviously no penalty for a "forfeit" it will become a fad, everybody do it!!

There are aprox. 25 girls who compete every year. Only one can win. All the girls know this going in. Everyone doesn't expect to win all the time. Some like the experience and the friendships. So maybe you don't need to be such a nasty person.

[> [> [> Subject: First of all, why is it any of your business when and for whom these girls compete? It is their decision. Secondly, why do you feel the need to speculate on their reasoning to compete at this pageant? Maybe they want to compete before they go back to school, or they looked at the pageant calendar and had previous commitments. Why don't you ask them instead of venting on a board?

It's not greedy. They're doing what's best and most convenient for them.

Shame on you for calling these girls out of character.
[> [> [> [> Subject: The only people who consider it greedy are the ones that think that they can't win against these girls. They figure if they didnt compete they would have a better chance at one of the crowns.

[> [> [> [> [> Subject: You are probably right, the girls who think it is greedy probably do know they can't win against these girls. Look at Kaitlyn, She was first runner up last year, came back won the very first local then was in top five AGAIN this year. So maybe they do know they can't win, but guess what everyone wants to be a Shore girl. Clearly they want to be Shore girls also, but there is another shore pageant this year. Three more shore titles up for grabs. Its hard enough to become a shore girl with out the pressure of having to compete against some of the best girls in the state.

>NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO BE A "SHORE GIRL"
What about the year commitment these girls made when they won their title? Do they get to abandon their present directors and not fulfill the commitment? Sounds a little selfish to me, no integrity.
[> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: Sounds a little selfish to me, no integrity. Service, Success, Scholarship.Style??? Sometimes integrity and commitment mean doing things that are not always "convenient". For example, fulfilling your title then waiting until after football season to compete for another? What the young ladies don't see is, what they are missing by rushing through their lives, but they will realize later in life...

Agree they are selfish and greedy they could give up their title and easily win another. (#selfishsaysitall)

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: If we're going to talk about commitment here, then what about all the girls that are competing well before giving up their titles? Is there no integrity in that, too? Face it, it's the name of the game and these girls are going to compete regardless of whether you call them selfish or not.

I believe that's what was being talked about. No bashing, just
an opinion that the girls do not take the commitment seriously and too easily move on the next crown.
[> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: This has been discussed before....no where does it say that a girl must complete her entire year with any title. Venessa aged out, so it doesn't pertain this year, but for example if the girl who wins the last pageant of the year (miss Stars and Stripes during the 2o13 season) were to have to finish her reign then she would not have the opportunity to compete again the following year. If that were the case no one, except for girls aging out, would want to win the last crown of the year. This isn't difficult to understand. Compete when is convenient for you! Again, only the girls that have trouble winning titles complain. If you want to get to Miss NJ put the work in and go get one of the crowns. Quit crying that someone is taking your opportunity. These girls hit the gym, put the hours into their platform and whatever else is necessary. If you put as much effort into preparation as you do bellyaching the outcome would be different.
