Subject: Choking, Mai'tsa surfaces in water only a foot or so deep, spat out at last by the churning wave. Blackness edges in on her vision as she weakly drags herself toward the relative safety of the beach, fighting the pull of water retreating to the sea and letting the crashing waves push her forward as they come. She is vaguely - /very/ vaguely - aware of tentacles still lashing about in the air and water around her, but the tentacled monster seems to have lost notice of her after that wave pulled her under (luck works in weird ways). At the moment she feels rather numb and lethargic, and would be making very very very little progress if any were it not for the help of the waves. Really all that is holding her to consciousness is the stinging pain in her wrist and neck and the gagging taste of seawater in her mouth, that and the strong urge that she must get to shore, before...before... But darkness washes across her vision before she can finish the thought, and the world blinks out.

She dimly remembers Oricon's cry for help, the sting of the poison, and the water closing over her head...she thought she'd heard Rustam's voice too, just before she'd blacked out completely...or had it all been an illusion? She tries to get up, but her muscles are still too weak from the poison, and she can barely turn her head. Looking out towards the ocean, she sees the limp forms of Rustam and another girl floating on the water. There appears to be no signs of life from either of them. Was her brother...? Had he saved her, only to be claimed by the monster? "Rustam..." she gasps. Her eyes close again and she fades out once more." on 19:43:56 12/17/03 Wed
