I don't know if this will be of help to you, but I was a member of the First Combat Infantry Band in the beginning of 1945 under the leadership of CWO Robert E. Whiting with his assistant WOJG Robert C. Lewis. Who at that time his home address was 80 Broadway, in Salem, N.J.
The First Combat Infantry Band was based at Fort George G. Meade, Md. and traveled on a War Bond tour from October 28, 1945 to December 15, 1945.
Maybe if you contact Fort George G. Meade you can receive some more information.

Allen,
Some years ago about 55 to be close, I knew an allen Lawless from the Tulsa area. his father was a fine band director in Oklahoma and we attended the Gunnesson,Colorado music camp together. As I remember young allen played fine Clarinet. Would you be this fellow I remember from so many years ago?
