John, the problem comes in that these laws generally become breed specific and affect all of us, not just those who are participating in illegal dog fighting activities. Even if the law only applies to supposed dog fighting equipment, it may affect all of us. For example, many people use treadmills to exercise their dogs where there is a lack of fencing to contain the dog or perhaps the owner has a physical disability preventing them from exercising their dog properly. There are better laws already on the books to remove dangerous dogs from society and to make the irresponsible owners of these dogs liable.
