Subject: Meet the real chief
In reply to: squeak 's message, "You've brought up some very good points" on 09:30:41 03/13/02 Wed

s> Once there was an indian tribe who recieved a missionary into their camp. The missionary proceeded to tell them the "good news". They recieved it with great joy. Then he started telling them the other part of the message and what happens to people who don't recieve Christ in this life will be burned for all eternity in the next. The chief began to wail and cry. The missionary said, "Chief what is wrong? Do not worry you have recieved the gospel with great joy! This doesn't apply to you it just demonstrates the urgency we should feel in telling others!" And the Chief said, "Last week my son was killed in battle. This was before we knew anything about this SAvior-King, according to you he will be burned alive forever and ever. This gospel, is very very bad news."

W> Have you ever read the Parable of Sower (Soil)

Matt 13:3-11
3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: "Behold, a sower went out to sow.
4 "And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.
5 "Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth.
6 "But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away.
7 "And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them.
8 "But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
9 "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"
10 And the disciples came and said to Him, "Why do You speak to them in parables?"
11 He answered and said to them, "Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. (NKJ)

Now tell me where the chief fits in.

Matt 13:16-23
16 "But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear;
17 "for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.
18 "Therefore hear the parable of the sower:
19 "When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.
20 "But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;
21 "yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.
22 "Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.
23 "But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty." (NKJ)

The Good News is NOT that all are saved, the Good News is that "if you believe" God in His grace has made it available for ALL to be saved.

Consider the son of the chief who was dead..........

Luke 16:27-31
27 "Then he said, 'I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house,
28 'for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.'
29 "Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.'
30 "And he said, 'No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.'
31 "But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.'" (NKJ)

The truth squeak is that without the cross we are ALL condemned because we have not fulfilled the law. Scripture teaches it is by God's grace alone that we are saved at all. God is NOT OBLIGED to save us all.

s> The duality of man has created the flip side of bad news and tacked it onto God's gospel to make himself soveriegn over his own destiny.

W> So are you saying Christ had only a lovey dovey character? The Scripture clearly teaches both OT and NT of the wrath of God. The nature of God is not just lovey dovey. The nature and Word of God teaches a healthy fear.

Prov 1:7
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (NKJ)
____________________________________________

s> And at the same time don't forget: Phl 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.

W> squeak this verse has nothing to do with Universal Salvation because I could use it as well. And if you wish I can take each and apply it. What I want to hear is that ALL are going to heaven. Then I want to know the significance of the verses that speak of eternal torment. There is an eternal torment somewhere or else it would be in the Bible or even spoken of by Christ.

s>There is a diabolical message to Christianity. And it's time people of the church woke up to it, and started to search their hearts on this issue.

W> Absolutely, and Satan also comes as an angel of light and we should learn how he works through Biblical history. Do you see how many are accepting your way over mine squeak? The road is narrow squeak.
