Subject: hi DJ (bringing it up here!)

DJ,

May I recap? Have I remembered right?

You grew up in a Christian family, attending church regularly, and went forward (of your own volition) and prayed a prayer of commitment at age 9, at a camp, which you had attended along with other children (who also made a commitment?)

If that is right, could I ask you what your opinion is of the evangelising of children? You say you were not pressured to prayer this prayer of commitment - presumably you mean you were not pressured by the adults there. Do you think it is possible that children in those situations might feel a sort of "nice pressure" feeling if other kids are doing this thing and perhaps being made to feel like it was a real special and cool thing to do?

I personally would not want my almost 9 year old to go away to a Christian camp because I believe if she did, she would face pressure. I believe she is not yet in a position to sufficiently understand/exercise her own free will, and want her to be free to think about such things without being under pressure (nice or otherwise).

Recap part 2! I believe you said that you *were* set up when you were 17, *set up* to be influenced/pressurised into praying the prayer of commitment again. I was wondering if you could tell me a bit about how it felt for you at the time; what was going on at the time, when it was that you realised you were being set up, how you felt about it at the time and just after.

Sorry for so many questions, but I am finding this quite interesting.

take care
