Subject: Going on dori

Hi dori,

Sorry I didn't get back sooner, but I'm in transition and am making a life change.

d> I'd be happy to answer your question. I have a problem with my church's teaching on celibacy for the priests (I think we have to be realistic and appeal to more straight oriented men in the priesthood)

W> You know dori I never really considered what your saying about the priests until this week and I have been listening to some tapes on the celibacy of priests and I WHOLLY AGREE with you on that issue. Humans are created as sexual beings and I believe celibacy is too much to be put on a person that is created otherwise. Now mind you there are people that are incapable of sex but these are not usually found in the priesthood. I believe priests should be allowed to marry and have families as it make for healthier ministering because they will be able to relate to the problems of parishioners a lot easier. The sexual instinct is just too much to repress on a person male or female for a whole lifetime.

d> birth control should be allowed so girls aren't faced with unwanted pregnancies or aborton.

W> This is a sticky area for me. Don't you think that it would be better to teach young people the virtues of remaining a (virgin) until they are in actual marraige? I just feel that with young people the search for real love can lead to many emotional problems when it is mingled with many sex partners. I live just on the outskirts of Toronto, Canada so you probably know we sponsered the World Youth Day last week. One thing on TV really disturbed me when the newspeople accentuated a person giving out condoms at the the place where the main mass was held. I just don't think that was appropriate for the occasion. It left a funny taste in my mouth.

I also agree with you on Holy Communion in that the bread and wine "represent" the body and blood of Christ and are not actual. And we should have communion in rememberbrance of Him.

d> What denomination do you belong to? Or are you unaffiliated with any church?

W> I am affiliated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church but I consider myself an Evangelical Christian in that I do believe the Bible to be the final standard by which we measure living. Plus I do believe that as a Christian I hope to bring glory back to God by way of serving Him in some type of ministry to evangelize the world to bring people into a personal relationship with God through the Incarnation of His Son Christ Jesus.
Mondo mentioned trying a different church. Would you like to try a different church?
