Thanks for explaining your absence. I was beginning to think I had upset you with my answers. *-)

Your feelings on celibacy in my church are identical to mine. It just isn't natural to expect a man to never have sex. The reasoning is that a man not distracted by a wife will devote his total life to God, but as you say, a wife can be a great helpmate to him in the ministry.

On birth control, your position is the same as my church's--teaching abstinence. I agree that should be taught, but I would rather know that if they decided they couldn't wait, they'd take precautionary measures without being condemned by the church. The birth control issue also enters into the lives of married couples in our church. That should be a decision made by the couple, not the church. I am not advocating passing out condoms in school and am horrified to hear condoms were supposedly passed out at the conference. Did you actually see that or was it possibly reported by anti-Catholic sources? I find it very hard to believe.

A lot of people ask me why I stay in my church when I don't fully agree with its teachings. They wonder why I can support a church that harbors sexual deviants in its ranks. Let me try to explain. I go to church for fellowship with my family and fellow Christians. I go there to worship God. My thoughts when there are lifted up to Him. It doesn't matter which church we go to as long as we are going there to worship Him. If I were to leave my church for another I would not be any happier than I am in mine. I disagree with the teachings of all denominations in some manner, I'm sure, because I don't accept the Bible as the sole source of learning about God. That would have me in deep water right at the very beginning in your church, I'll bet. When I was a young girl I tried several churches--Baptist, Methodist and Evangelical. They were okay but I felt people were judging me there. I don't get that from my fellow Catholics. Since we have several masses, we don't get so hung up on who came to church this week and who wasn't there last week. We don't sit and yack before mass. We sit and reflect and pray. It just suits me better. And the main reason I stay is because it is one of the few things my husband and I enjoy doing together in our busy lives. I am upset at the findings about the degenerate priests and think they should all be removed from the priesthood, but I also recognize that there are bad people in all walks of life and pray for them to get help. I think they will clean house and maybe learn a few things about why its important to rethink the celibacy issue.

I hope your life changes will go smoothly and will keep you in my prayers. God bless.
