Because sin is what destroy's man. Even though we "may" sin, sin is not the controlling part of our life. For example if before you were an alcoholic, doesn't mean now you are free to drink but you are "FREE" to live the life you were created for which is freedom from sin. Whereas it is impossible without Christ in you.

Rom 6:1-2
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?
2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? (NKJ)
