By the by, as we ladies who bake can tell you, sultanas are wrinkly seedless white grapes, currents are small, usually seedless, black grapes & raisins often have pips in them. Sultanas soaked in apricot brandy (and gently warmed so they plump up in the brandy) make a very nice addition to little buns instead of the usual sultanas straight from the packet, and if you have any bananas that are starting to get soft, slice them up, pour a little drop of apricot brandy, Baileys, or whatever other delights you might have n the drinks cabinet, spoon some really thick cream over the top, sprinkle a generous tablespoon of sugar, something gorgeous like a dark muscado sugar is best as it gets really treacly and toffee like, and bake in the oven until the sugar has melted over the cream and the whole thing is piping hot, and then enjoy. Not that any of this has a lot to do with wrinkly science teachers, but is very nice as an alternative pud. Can also be used for nectarines or peaches.
