Good grief! From GPS systems to mass murderers in a few steps. That's what I love about these threads in the Blether Bar! There isn't a navigation system in the world that can predict the direction these conversations will take.

I'm delighted to learn that so many of us "mature" people have embraced technology. Still, I'm with Gilly on her choice of navigation method (maps, getting lost, swearing etc). We may have a Blether Bar research finding here - GPS is favoured in big places like Australia and Canada but in the UK many of us oldies still like to take a gamble.

To put it in context:

My beloved S Type Jag is now nearly ten years old and has 56,000 miles on the clock. On average I drive less than 6,000 miles a year. That's mostly to my caravan in Pembrokeshire and other places in Wales. Getting lost in country lanes in Wales is part of the fun. When I visit my brother in Scotland I use one of those airlines that sells tickets for a quid provided you're not too fussy about the flight dates and times. I couldn't justify the cost of a GPS system with my present travel habits, but I now appreciate the value of one elsewhere thanks to what I've read in this thread.
