Our telly in Belgium was also rented Gilly. We had BBC 1 and 2 delivered by cable from receivers on the Belgian coast that were "nicking" the analogue broadcasts from the UK! Belgium is very bureaucratic and rule-obsessed (no washing on the line on a Sunday) but also very creative at dodging its own bureaucracy and rules.

I was supposed to have a licence for the radio in my car but again the registration form just disappeared into some huge filing system marked "do not disturb".

My son can watch telly on his iphone. I've no idea if he's supposed to have a licence for that.

Remember dog licences? What the hell was that all about?! It's not as if you had to pass a test to get one. Seven shillings and sixpence if I remember correctly.
