I didn't have enough cash so had to pay hm by cheque and pay VAT as well, which always bugs me. The Government tax your pay, tax his business earnings and tax the taxed money that we have paid him so out of one transaction they have taken 3 lots of taxes. Mind, it wasn't bad for an emergency call out on a Sunday morning, £125.75. Things have now quietened down, I have done all the baking I wanted to do, the meat is in the oven cooking slowly (pork steaks in apple juice with new potatoes, and then I'll thicken the sauce with some phylly and do some fresh sparagrass), shop bought cheese cake for pud, or yogs depending on how we feel. Rachel has a coffee & walnut cake to take back with her, and some cookies, so she'll be happy, and there were enough scones made that she can take some of those to eat on her journey, as she will be leaving here at about 11.45 and not getting home until 7.30. It only takes 6 hours to drive it! Mind, she has to catch 4 different trains, and it would have been the same if she had come via London, the journey time would have been much the same and the cost even greater. Thetford to Ely, Ely to Birmingham, Birmingham to Shrewsbury and Shrewsbury to Llandrindod Wells. Her boyfriend is working, but the pub where he is a chef is just the other side of the road from the station in Llandod, so she can walk across, stick her luggae in the boot and then have something to eat before he takes her home.
Is today Australia's Motherss Day Ours was back in March, but I do know today is Mothers' Day in the USA. Anyway, happy mothering Sunday to you to, and to all mums out there, and grandmums.
