Colour for me. My occasional nightmares have bright red blood in them, often my own, and the images haunt me for days.

I have noticed that pleasant dreams seem to become less frequent as I get older. In the past I would wake and then try to go back to sleep and resume a happy dream. Now I sometimes dread going back to sleep. I read somewhere that stopping watching news on the telly and reading newspapers can reduce this.

Then again, I'm a horror film fan and that probably doesn't help.

Apparently, when Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" was released viewers were left with memories of red blood and the knife penetrating flesh in the shower scene although the film was in black and white and the knife was never shown actually stabbing Janet Leigh. The scene has become a classic example of cinematic manipulation of the viewer.

I agree with you Gilly. The article sounds like twaddle.

I have a story about the introduction of colour telly that I'll polish up and post.

BB
