It's frightening though Margaret. the cottage has become very shabby as we haven't been able to afford to have things done, although we did take some equity a while ago to get central heating put in as our old Rayburn was literally falling to bits, but we need to sell and move into a bungalow for both our sakes as we are both badly arthritic and David's balance since he has fallen down the stairs twice, fracturing his skull both times has become very bad, and I hate to think what would happen if he fell again, so we have decided to bite the bullet and try get some more equity and have the barge boards done properly rather than have something put up onto damaged roof rafters and have the whole place made quite unsaleable, and get new doors as well. The property will then really have the wow factor once we have decorated. The carpets could do with replacing but not worth us doing it as it might not suit what the buyers might want. If we can get enough equity we'll get a new bathroom suite as well as part of it is disgusting orange and the bath is cream, not exactly a sale point. We will get there though, and the more we can get done the higher our chance of selling and getting a decent price for it, we should certainly recoup what we have spent on it and it will be the difference between getting what we ask and having to knock thousands off as there are problems with it, and then all we need get Dean to do is put some new insulation in the roof and fix the couple of lights that aren't up to scratch, it will then be very viable.

Gilly
