Happy New Year to you all too! I hope you have a good one.

2011 was a bit busy all round, to say the least. It certainly wasn't boring.

Some things that made me cheerful:

A universal flu vaccine is being tested. You get one jab and you'll never have flu, of any strain, ever again.

E-book devices aren't killing off printed books. Book publishers are responding to the challenge by producing books that are desirable objects; proper covers and binding, quality paper, eye-catching artwork. The two formats can co-exist. My brother gave me a Kindle for Christmas and I love it. I sent him a "proper" book about an artist, Richard Dadd, who murdered his dad(!?) and spent the rest of his life in an asylum painting beautiful, bizarre pictures.

The number of planets recently detected orbiting other stars has gone from just a few to hundreds. Oh, what a time we live in!

For New Year I made a Scottish steak pie in Wales with Irish beef. How Celtic is that! I'll post a photie.

Hello 2012, I'm delighted to meet you.

BB
