Good for you with the job Gilly. They're not so easy to find right now. Recycling is one of the few growth industries so you're in a good place. My sister-in-law in Scotland was made redundant a few months ago and she has also found a job through an agency that was supposed to be short-term but looks like it might go on for longer. Mind you, she has some harsh things to say about some of these agencies.

I don't know if I could tolerate a full-time job now, one year after being made redundant. Too many enjoyable things to do even if they don't bring in much cash! I'm earning a bit of money by doing some technical consultancy for paint companies. And I'm more than halfway through my MSc course on Communicating Science. An offshoot of this is that I've found a historical aspect of medical science development in Scotland that my tutors think could be a worthy topic for a book. It's not as boring as it sounds since it involves sex, blackmail, ruthless ambition, chemistry and madness. I think a paperback pizza with those toppings might whet the appetites of a few discerning readers. I might even add some anchovies and red herrings to a true tale that has some very fishy goings-on already.

I've registered my interest in work of any description on the 2011 census website. Temporary work but could be interesting. Here's a link:
