There is going to be a huge problem about taking vitamin supplements in the fairly near future, certainly in Europe, as the EEC is starting to get umptee about people taking "untested and unproven" supplements and want all the companies that sell these to put them through vigorous tests and prove the claims, which will take years and cost millions. At our doctors we have 2 who believe in alternative therapies and the natural pills and lotions and 2 who don't, so if you are gong in for an operation 2 of them will give you arnica pills and the other 2 won't because it's all old wives tales. Arnica is something I always have in the house as it is marvellous for bruising and I sent some arnica tablets down to my brother in law when he broke his ankle very badly and it had to be pinned and plated. I don't know whether he took them, if he didn't then more fool him. I also have a friend who is a homeopathist and now if any of the gang with whom I was at school have relatively minor physical (or indeed mental) problems we email her and ask her advice, and she blithely supplies us with little tiny pills and ridiculous as it sounds, they work. In fact she sent me a little black stone (obsidian) for a problem, and I have to put it in a glass of water and take a sip every 20 minutes until the problem is solved. David fell about laughing the first time he saw it sitting in a glass of water, but having used it several times now he doesn't mock. I think the Americans are more au fait with the B12 complex and certainly my friend in Texas says that a number of people have been put on it so far as she knows, and she actually types our clinic notes for quite a number of doctors in private practices, and more and more of these doctors are turning to the "old wives" remedies because quite simply they work. It's difficult at times to know who to believe, but I am putting more and more faith in the alternative medicines. Obviously anything serious I would go to the doctor, but for minor ailments I'd far rather take something more natural, but it's getting more and more difficult to buy some of the supplements, such as the B complex, from health food shops.
