Clever clogs!!

We ended up with a small, very sharp tongued Scottish teacher, but by heck she pulled us through our Maths 'O' level. I got a grade B, which I was absolutely delighted with and certainly woulnd't have got with the previous teacher. There were some of the girls who might not even have passed if it wasn't for her. She suddenly switched the light on for some. I'm amazed I got through French as the teacher and I didn't see eye to eye. She wore strong perfume and spent a lot of her time talking about her latest beaux, and acually sent a couple of us out of class as we were reading books under the desk instead of listening to her. The fact that we were actually reading books that were written in French and were our own was of no interest to her, but then neither were her beaux of interest to us. She told me I was utterly useless and would never make anything of myself (we really didn't like each other!) but I changed schools for 'A's and got French no problem. Different teacher, and what a difference it made! Good teachers can inspire you for life. Bad teachers can totally undermine your confidence to such an extent that you never do reach the limits that you could have reached with some praise and enthusiasm.

Gilly
