Funnily enough some of us were having a conversation about Jimmy Edwards only about 2 weeks ago, and someone said that he had had a very troubled life as he was in fact a homosexual in the days when it was still very much a criminal act, but he was funny. I've never heard of the other 2 or the Alexander brothers. I did get David McCullum's autograph once when he came into the shop where I had a Saturday job and the rest of othe girls saw him and begged me to get his autograph for them, in fact he signed about 3 or 4 sheets of paper for me and then asked if any of them were for me (bearing in mind that I was 15 or 16 at the time) and I replied "oh no, they're for my friends, I'e never heard of you". The poor man's face was a picture. The supervisor pounced as I walked back up the stairs to the are where I should have been and asked me what I had been doing so I told her, and she too asked who he was and was totally bemused when I replied I had no idea, that they weren't for me. She just shoook her head, told me to get them delivered to the rest of my motley crew and get back to my position. All the rest of the girls were terrified of her which was why they didn't dare move away from their stations. I think the foot x-ray things must have been before my time because by the time the 60s came I was wearing adult's shoes, and certainly by 61/62 I was buying winklepicker bype stilettos and stuffing the toes with cotton wool to stop them turning up, as well as stuffing cotton wool into the pointed ends of the circle stitch bras that were all the rage, becuase if you didn't they would just sink in at the pont and give you a very weird shape, but then you got an odd shape anyway as there is no way that breasts are conical!!!!
