What's rock melon? I'm not keen on sweet potato, having said which I haven't tried it for more than 50 years, so maybe what I ate as a young person and thought yuk might appeal more to me as an adult. I've had great potato salad in Germany, and used to make it a lot when we lived out there, even making my own mayo, but it's so cheap to buy it's nor really worth the effort for just 2 of you. I used to add chopped hazelnuts to mine sometimes, which made a nice crunchy addition. I'm glad they enjoyed themselves, but you're right, it's nice to have company but bliss when they go home. (We believe you about the whisky, Daveski)
