My brother used to work in a slaughterhouse, and was allowed to bring home all the bits the butchers didn't want. (Sort of the way the Scottish Haggis was invented, when the English Lords let the Scottish teuchters have the left-overs). We would have wonderfully tasty oxtail, and a (so they told me at the time) real delicasy called "sweetbreads". Only in my twenties did I find out I'd been eating (and enjoying) sheeps' balls! They said they were the Adam's apples to get us to eat them. Ach well!!!!
