in overseas communities where there are many filipinos such as in Cali and Hawaii, you will see a high incidence of that "IMSCF syndrome", as previously stated, it is not only a colonial mentality thing but also a class thing, many of these IMSCFs are from low or lower middle class families back in philippines and to improve their status and esteem they will tell white lies about their ethnicity not only to whites but to their fellow pinoys which is pretty sad. when a pinoy says they are half (white)american, it is fairly obvious if they are telling the truth by their looks, but when one says they are partly spanish it is harder to prove, but easier to believe because of our spanish colonial history, as with being partly chinese it is also easier to believe because of our chinese community, but unlike spanish it is easier to prove by their looks or their tsinoy surname.

just because some of us may have fair skin or have a pointed nose just not automatically mean we are an "intsek" or a "castilla". the truth is most filipinos do not have that "classic" filipino look ie. dark brown skin, kinky hair, flat nose, we look very similar to other malays in indonesians and malaysians, and you don't see many malays claiming to be chinese or spanish unless it is true. all i can say is to these IMSCF pinoys is to PROVE IT because more than half of pinoys/pinays who make this claim are in fact 100% malay.
